Please take the time to review and vote up our Idea!

We would like the ability to change or update the ownership of schedules to service accounts. By default they are owned by the creator, however this leaves a single source of failure if the person would leave. Also when creating scheduled emails, the email comes from the creator. If it could be changed to a service account associated to a group mailbox, then there is not a single source of failure. This would also look more professional coming from a group rather than a single individual. Today when someone is no longer at our company the ownership shows as unavailable and then will eventually fail. This would also prevent that.

    Voted.

You are aware that you can change the default sender of e-mails in Cognos: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/558323 ?

I agree the whole process today is a pain. Today another user can claim ownership, but if I remember correctly they need to update the schedule at three different spots for it to work properly again. Also usually the schedules of our users are located in their own content folder and need to be moved by an admin first. Any improvement of this situation would be highly welcome.

Proper built-in Administration-level tools have LOOOOONG been needed but after all these years it's clear IBM will never supply them.  Thus we are required to purchase 3rd party tools.

We rely on BSP's MetaManager for doing this sort of thing.  When people leave I use the tool to search for anything they own - reports, schedules, dist lists, saved outputs, etc and transfer ownership to someone else.  Motio Pi does this sort of thing as well though I'm not very familiar with that tool.

We do leverage BSP MetaManager for publishing from Dev to Test to Prod for our internal developers.  It is a great product that many of our internal developers.  This enhancement/idea was submitted by one of our business users, continuing to try and continue to identify basic capabilities that should be a part of the base Cognos capabilities.  Many of our users don't leverage all of the capabilities our additional 3rd party tools we have within our company.

The premium version of CogBox offers this functionality. You can update the owner of schedules and reports to any user with stored credentials.

That being said, I truly believe Cognos should have this functionality by default, so I voted. It is important to remember that this also affects security as a service user may have different data/row level security applied than regular end users - simply changing the default sender is insufficient for cases like this.
