Cognos Analytics

Hi there,
Hope you are doing well,

I'm working on environment with custom installation that doesn't contain cognos users,
So I don't have the ability to add users.
and anyone could edit and view dashboards and reports without authentication.

How can I add users to activate authentication?

Hi Ahmed,

there are a few steps to add users. I just give you an overview:
You have to add an authentication provider in Cognos Configuration. right-click on "Authentication" and add a new namespace.

You have to pick the right type regarding your environment. Then configure it.
Afterwards it's necesacry to reduce users to this namespace. Otherwise all other in the namspace need a license for Cognos Analytics. Then restart your service.

When the service is back running again you can log in and configure your security within the Administration console if you're familiar with it or use the new Manage -> People capability. There's a document from IBM which describes the first steps as you have to add users from your newly created namespace to the systemadministrator role and then you have to remove "Everyone" from a few roles und capabilities. I don't have that document here nor a link. Maybe someone else can chime in and supply it.
