  • 1.  Reload scan setting via button

    Posted 4 days ago

    We are currently running Datacap 9.1.5.  We will begin upgrading to 9.1.9 within the next few months.  We have some custom scan panels that we use vai Datacap Desktop to scan to ingest documents into Datacap.  When the scan panel is loaded, the scan settings are loaded as well and an empty batch is created.  My company has tasked me with adding a button to the scan panel that when clicked would "reload" a different set of scan settings and use them instead of the ones that were loaded when the scan panel was opened.  Is that something can be done?  They have some valid reasons for it but I didn't know if the scan settings can be "reloaded".

    You'll need to recompile your 9.15 scan panel with the 9.19 DDK scan panel for starter.  You can add any button you want in your custom scan panel but I am not sure how you would reload user scan setting.  That's normally loaded when you start the scan task.

    Hi Danny,

    Might be a consideration to switch to DC Navigator during the upgrade as saving and loading scanner profiles is relatively easy in there: Scanner profile - IBM Documentation
    Really not sure about DC Desktop, though :/

    Thank you Duke and Julian.  Although it has been discussed and is in the plan at some point, at this time we are going to continue using Datacap Desktop for our scanning and verification panels.  I found a PDF named Datacap Desktop Panels API Guide.  In both the ScanTWAIN and ScanISIS class members sections, it has:

    LoadSavedScannerConfig
    Load scanner configuration from a file that is specified by value of SettingsFile
    member. Syntax - Method() or Property:
    bool LoadSavedScannerConfig()
    Return value: Boolean - True, if the settings were successfully sent to the scanner.

    Does that seem like it could be used to execute from the click of a button to load a different settings file from the one that was loaded when the scan panel was opened?  This guide for version 9.1.5 or less I think.  I know that the current version that we are upgrading to in the future only allows for using TWAIN.  We currently use ISIS and are doing this button if it is possible before our upgrade to 9.1.9

    Hi Danny,

    I can't help with your issue but I noticed your statement:
    I know that the current version that we are upgrading to in the future only allows for using TWAIN.

    Just in case you didn't realise, ISIS is still supported but is now a separately licensed component with its own part number: G01JCEN
