  • 1.  Order of Swimlanes

    I am a new user to BWL.  After I have created my Discovery Map, I then choose Process Diagram.  It appears that my swimlanes are ordered incorrectly - ie. The first "Participant" in the process appears as the bottom swimlane.  Is there a way to reverse this order?  I'm sure it is a setting that I am missing or something I am not doing correctly.  

    The desire is that the start of the process with the Hiring Manager should be at the top, not at the bottom.

    Hi Kevin, what you have is not incorrect, however yes, typically (best practice) people model from top to bottom/left to right; and you can rearrange the swimlanes (and Milestones) by simply clicking on the swimlane (or milestone) and dragging them. Happy to jump on a call to demonstrate.

    In my experience the switch from Discovery to Diagram results in the participant swimlanes being listed in alphabetical order, not some kind of sequential one based on the activity flow etc... I agree this isn't great, but a lot of our processes jump around across multiple participants so we end up customising it anyway. I do notice in your screenshot that this wasn't in alphabetical ordering so not sure if there has been a change or a glitch added here causing this mixed up version. Anyone on the IBM team able to confirm the expected functionality?
