In IBM BAW 23 search functionality on the single select coach like Text Type ahead configuration option not working and unable to select any item if the Single select is within another coach view and works fine if it's on the coach direct.

Sorry I couln't understand the problem correctly. What do you mean by single select being in another coach? How are you giving the list items? Are the items can be seen but not selectable? Can you share some screenshots about the problem?

We have a coach view that have some common fields that used in more than a screen, one of them is the single select which have items retrieved from a service and works fine if not enabled the type ahead configuration option, but when enabling it to use search capability the items retrieved and we can see it but unable to select any of them,

Also we have the same single select in a panel on a coach directly works fine and we can select and search but if we enabled the search and the items have some matched values like(1,100,1000) the first value is automatically selected and unable to select any other value unless we remove the selected one and type a space and re-search again which is another defect in the control.

Did you by any chance modified this component and added it yourself or did you mean another configuration option as type ahead configuration option?

We did not make any modifications to IBM sigle select control but starting from IBM BAW V23.0.2 with all fixes applied these configurations are available as we can see in the following Screen Shot.

It works fine with static lists but with items from service we still get the the same issue and to illusterate the issue , kindky find the attached videos that might help ,also thanks to Thong guide we found errors in brwoser console  as in the attached screenshot and the viedo also .

Hi Ahmed,

Do you want to try and place that custom coach view on a Client Side Human Service instead of the Heritage Human Service and see how it goes? 

Not sure why you're still using Heritage Human Service though, I would steer clear of HHS as it was deprecated a long time ago (5,7 years from now I think). Also, HHS is a server-side style coach, back in the day, I don't remember we could ever execute any DOM selection actions, hence, the error message you're seeing now. It failed to execute DOM querySelectorAll simply because HHS wasn't a client side environment for DOM.

But we are using client side human services and the attached videos are from client side human services, we are using single select control only with the new configurations that enables search functionality within the same control in BAW 23.0.2 with the latest fix packs applied.

Apologies. I was just looking at your video briefly and thought you were using the HHS. 

I think I could see the same issue you're seeing. 

This happens when the Single Select was used as a Typeahead

I think you should reach out to IBM and report this defect. 

As for a workaround, if you want a typeahead experience for your users, maybe consider using the actual typeahead control? You would have to use strings but I think you can go around that by combining the name and value like this name-value so end users can see the name and upon selection, just get rid of the name part using split("-")

We have a coach view that have some common fields that used in more than a screen, one of them is the single select which have items retrieved from a service and works fine if not enabled the type ahead configuration option, but when enabling it to use search capability the items retrieved and we can see it but unable to select any of them,

Also we have the same single select in a panel on a coach directly works fine and we can select and search but if we enabled the search and the items have some matched values like(1,100,1000) the first value is automatically selected and unable to select any other value unless we remove the selected one and type a space and re-search again which is another defect in the control.

Sorry I couln't understand the problem correctly. What do you mean by single select being in another coach? How are you giving the list items? Are the items can be seen but not selectable? Can you share some screenshots about the problem?

Hi Ahmed,

We are using Single Select or Typeahead coach views within coach views in our projects and we have never had any issues. We are on the latest BAW version as well. In principal, the out of the box coach views from the UI toolkit should be working regardless of being placed inside a nested coach view or on a coach. 

Maybe you want to check the errors in your console and see if there are any

I just tried this in 23.0.2 and I am getting the same errors when using a single select with typeahead behavior enabled when placing it into a nested coach view. It runs fine when using it the same way in just a normal coach.
