Hi Cathy,
If you are having issues with custom numbering please raise an IBM support ticket on the IBM Support Portal
The main benefit of using custom numbering is to fix the numbers. If you add an activity in the middle of a Blueprint the numbers after that activity will shift upward to accommodate it. Sometimes this is not the desired outcome. In some cases the requirement is for numbers to be fixed. Use of custom numbering will allow this.
Another example is when the process is a part of a wider process that is documented in multiple Blueprints. Then the numbers can be customised to show it's place in the end-to end process.
I hope that helps,

Subject: Experience using the Blueworks Custom Numbering feature?
I'd like to learn more about the custom numbering feature in Blueworks:
-- Are there any known technical issues/bugs with the Blueworks custom numbering feature?
-- Any other issues people have experienced while editing processes that use custom numbering?
-- What types of benefits have been achieved through use of custom numbering? Has the readability of Word exports been significantly improved? Other benefits?
