I have a client that is interested in understanding if the IBM Business Automation Workflow product has any features that leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) or if there are plans to incorporate any specific AI capabilities in the product roadmap.  They have BAW on-premise (so AI capabilities for other CloudPak products would be helpful, but probably not as interesting for this customer at this time) and they don't have a particular use case, rather they are working backwards and looking to understand what capabilities there are and then see if any of those line up with any business initiatives.  Thanks in advance for any opinions or insight you may have.

Hello Everyone - just thought I'd bump this thread one more time and see if anyone has any sales-type language or use cases for the BAW platform that include "AI".  This client may have an initiative of looking to bring AI capabilities into their business so they are looking at existing tools available in the enterprise and seeing if they can propose a solution aligning with that buzzword.  Thanks in advance for taking another look at this question and asking your sales team if they are able to position BAW as an AI-enabled platform.

We received a similar query recently. There are some machine learning use cases outlined in the documentation here https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/baw/22.x?topic=workflow-installing-configuring-administering-machine-learning-server.

I don't know if Machine Learning Server would be included in your client's current license configuration or not.

Thanks for posting this Don. We would also like to learn more of these capabilities. Hope someone @IBM would help share some insights.

Hi Don.  This question is something I see as a big issue.  The majority of AI conversations are either the same typical well-known studies, like Chat Bots, Processing Mining as a whole, or even document summaries. The second part is they are technical in nature.  While there are parts that provide some details on business benefits, I see a need for changing the topic and focus.

To start with, I do not have any use cases I can give you today.  Now, I would be more than happy to talk with you on this here (NOT A SALES CALL OT SELLING ANYTHING), but I would ask these simple starting questions.  What industry are you in and what solutions do you have to start with (Case, CRM, Reporting and such).  Then, what is your business looking to achieve?   Digitial Transformation, better insight into business operations, reducing costs, etc.etc.  With these two, you can look to know what technologies enable what is needed.

Generic use cases can sometimes help you think about what is possible. When they do not, you need to change your perspective to determine what is really needed. The CP4BA has many aspects that can help make it happen. Watson has many other additional capabilities that can help but from a product or technical viewpoint.
