Hi all - With all the buzz around AI-powered automation, especially in the workplace, I wanted to know the following: 

1. What do you think is the best part about it? 

2. What do you think is the worst part about it?

Hi Gabriel, that is a great question. 

I think that the best part of it is, that finally, companies are starting to feel more comfortable with these kinds of technologies which will help us, employees, reduce workload and stress. Implementing this technology can also reduce the costs of getting work completed which can be reallocated to better grow the business. 

Depending on how companies implement this kind of technology, I think there is not a truly worst/terrible part about it.

Employers just need to ensure that adequate training and support are available, that the implementation is not a pain, and ensure that it is clear what impact it has on our roles. That it is ok to make mistakes and adjust the automation while rolling it out while closely collaborating with its users. It should not be an excuse to increase the workload drastically because employees are working more efficiently but it should be used as support to make the workspace better, increase engagement, and help us stay more focused on what value we can bring to the business. 

AI and automation are already part of our daily lives -- think about our smartphones -- it may seem scary at first but choosing the right activities to automate while being in control will only bring more benefits to our daily lives.

Great question Gabriel, and I totally agree Sophie!

It is all about intent: if the implementation starts to improve the employee's wellbeing, the design will engage them and everyone will benefit, including the employer.

Without a clear goal everyone agrees on and continuous involvement of end-users, any automation project can go really wrong, a shame as the technology can really be an ally when well used/designed!

We look forward for such successes with Watson Orchestrate as the business is meant to be involved and hold more of the reins to define what will support their team!
