Announcing the new Workflow capabilities in IBM Business Automation Workflow 24.0.0.0

By Bibin Baby posted 4 days ago

We are excited to announce that, as we reach the year's midpoint, we have achieved significant milestones and impressive enhancements for IBM.  This release unites information, processes, and users to help automate digital workflows on-premises or in the cloud. Create workflows that increase productivity, improve team collaboration, and gain new insight to resolve cases and drive better business outcomes.

Here is a key highlight of the new release:

1. Build workflow automations, process applications, and case solutions.

2. Enhanced user interfaces.

3. Enhanced saved search.

4. Security and compliance for Business Automation Workflow on containers

5. Intelligent Task Prioritization

6. Process Admin Console

7. Serviceability enhancements.

Here are more details of the key highlights of this new release:

1. Build workflow automations, process applications and case solutions.

The new features for modelling process applications in Process Designer and case solutions in Case Builder include:

  • In Process Designer, there are new server side validation messages when an asynchronous service flow is used by a coach model.
  • The number of decimal places in a business object is set by default in the Decimal UI view configuration when you create a simple type variable.
  • Easily create case pages based on new human service-based solution layouts, or manage classic pages based on widgets.
  • Easily find and reuse case and activity properties by displaying their unique identifier and choice list designation in Case Builder.
  • New configuration option on the Case Stages view to display stages in a vertical orientation allowing more flexible layout designs.
  • Case solution designers can now define solution pages based on client-side human services. This new feature gives designers a common way to consistently define all user interface elements, such as solution pages, case details, and process tasks.

2. Enhanced user interfaces.

Caseworkers can save time and effort by selecting multiple tasks related to cases in both the task list UI view and the task in-baskets and performing bulk actions on cases, such as reassigning, setting due dates, and priorities. Administrators can configure Workplace to log out inactive users automatically.

3. Enhanced saved search.

Enhanced saved search now supports additional Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT) for both non-federated (Process Federation Server not required) and federated (Process Federation Server required) environments. Enhanced search allows users to see integrated task lists that include task, process, and case instances. New REST APIs enable enhanced search across task, process, and case instances, and REST APIs are available in both federated and non-federated environments. Features of enhanced saved search REST APIs:

4. Security and compliance for Business Automation Workflow on containers

When Business Automation Workflow capabilities interact, network traffic is encrypted by default. In earlier versions, encryption used TLS 1.2. In 24.0.0.0, most internal communication now defaults to the more modern and secure TLS 1.3 version. The same is true for outbound communication, for example to custom databases or APIs that are used by customized applications.

5. Intelligent Task Prioritization

The following list contains the new features for Intelligent Task Prioritization:

  • The training data for Intelligent Task Prioritization in Business Automation Insights is now hosted in OpenSearch.
  • Use an enhanced Intelligent Task Prioritization feature with new RETRAIN_MODEL_SCHEDULE environment variable and Transport Layer Security (TLS) communication improvements.

6. Process Admin Console

The following list contains some of the new features for the Process Admin Console:

  • In the Installed Apps page, now search snapshots by their name or the application name and easily refresh the results.
  • Check whether the user synchronization results are up to date with the new Check Synchronization Result feature.

7. Serviceability enhancements.

The Process Admin Console will now pop-up warning dialogs when deleting critical data like users and groups. The audit trail will help Business Automation Workflow administrators monitor changes made to the Business Automation Workflow environment and who made them.
