  • 1.  How much additional memory is required for DataPower appliances when DPOD is being used.

We are just getting started with DPOD.  After adding our Non-Prod gateways, we saw a significant increase in memory being used.  How much additional memory should we add to our DataPower appliances if we plan on using DPOD.  We've checked the DPOD documentation which covers memory needed for DPOD, but it doesn't mention what we need on our DataPower appliances to account for the use of DPOD.

    Thanks!

You are saying that you noticed an increase of memory usage on your DataPower device? That doesn't seem right as DPOD only creates a log target per application domain for logging and turns on an agent. There is definitely something not right if you saw a significant increase in ANY resources.  Please open a ticket with IBM Support to investigate.

Charlie's correct.  DPOD has very, very low effect on the appliances.  But with that said, what kind of appliances are these (physical, virtual, etc)?  How much memory do they have?

These are virtual appliances.  We've seen a 20% increase since we added these gateways into DPOD.  We're up to 40 GB on each appliance with memory still pushing 40%.

Can you check the log target status on the appliances?  Is there a large number of failures occurring on the new logging target DPOD created?

They're all good.  We're look at some ldap connection errors on the appliances.  One of the guys is saying those errors might be causing connections to be held open which might be the issue.

Yeah... that's where I was going... looking for traffic being held up somewhere, causing DataPower to buffer on retry.
