  • 1.  Storage requirement for CP4I 2021.1.1 installation in AWS

    Hi Team,

Whats the storage requirement to install CP4I 2021.1.1 version in AWS using the operators? By default when the OCP cluster is installed in AWS , we get gp2 & ebs storage class but we are unable to provision platform navigator with that storage.  Appreciate any help.

    Thanks
    Mohan

    Hi @Mohan Kumar H,

The Platform UI component that is now part of the Platform Navigator requires an RWX (File) volume type - typically that would be something like AWS EFS, but other options include software-defined storage providers such as OpenShift Container Storage or Portworx.

    Regards,

    Matt

Thank you @Matt Roberts for your response. However by default we don't get AWS EFS storage classes in cluster.. So is there any documentation/article around adding the AWS EFS Storage or software-defined storage providers in to the OCP cluster?

There is documentation on how to do it using the operator here:
    https://access.redhat.com/articles/5025181#install-the-aws-efs-operator

It looks like the manual method has been removed from the OpenShift docs site for OCP 4.6, but the instructions for OCP 4.4 are still up in case you wanted to use the manual approach: https://docs.openshift.com/container-platform/4.4/storage/persistent_storage/persistent-storage-efs.html

External provisioner for AWS EFS (Technology Preview) feature has been removed

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) Elastic File System (EFS) Technology Preview feature has been removed and is no longer supported.

    Hello All,

We are even more restricted. We are using AWS ROSA (managed Openshift service), which restricts us from using OCS and RH have already revoked support to EFS. What are our ways forward with installing the Platform Navigator?

    Regards,
    Lokesh.

    Hi All,

On further reading, I understand that EFS (even though not supported by RedHat and customers are responsible for backups and recovery) is still available for ROSA customers.

    Any suggestions/recommendations welcome.

    Lokesh.
