Renaming one of two files doesn't take much time and doesn't a user to do it, but when there are plenty of files to be renamed, then it can be a big mess. Even if you are using Windows 10, renaming a long list of files will be a big mess. However, you can use some third-party tools like Microsoft PowerToys to rename the files quickly. So if you're using Windows 10, and have to rename a huge number of files, then you can try out three in-built methods. By using three different methods, you can rename your files quickly, without any third-party tool.

How to Rename Multiple Files Using File Explorer

Renaming multiple files through File Explorer is the easiest method to try. Rename multiple files using the Tab key and follow these steps:

    • Move into the folder that consists of files to name.
    • Tap the View option.
    • Choose the Details option.
    • Choose the first file.
    • Press the Home button.
    • Press Rename button.
    • Type a name of the file.
    • Now tap the Tab button to rename the other files in the list.
    • Confirm the name.
    • Hit Tab key to rename the next file.

By following this method, you can rename multiple files one by one quickly.
