  • 1.  Enabling Multi policy

    Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with enabling multi policy please?

I have a customer wishing to have it enabled so he he can leverage different policies for different groups.

We are a direct O2/telefonica partner and have to ask O2 cloud services to enable it for us.

They have said they can do this but are asking for what almost seems like a disclaimer 'Are you really sure you want to do this, there's no going back' type thing.

Is there any adverse effect if we do have it switched on? Would we lose any policies we have already configured? Does policy precedence become a different ball game?

    Hi Bryn,

Multi policy is not required to have different policies for different groups.  Policy precedence should ensure that group assignments are given proper weight should a user belong to more than one group.

It hasn't been officially announced yet, but we're going to be deprecating multi policy a little later this year, so I don't recommend enabling it for new clients.  The reason is because the framework is dated.  I believe a lot of people asked for it based on market buzzwords going around a few years back, but since MaaS360 pushes all the MDM configs and settings as a single payload, as opposed to breaking out each section in to it's own payload as a few other services do, it doesn't make as much sense for our product.  Most of the clients that asked for the feature never ended up deploying it after we built it out.
