IBM MaaS360 Integration with Check Point SandBlast Mobile

By Francesco Censi posted Tue April 02, 2019 04:38 PM

IBM MaaS360 with Watson now integrates with the Check Point SandBlast Mobile solution, extending its capabilities in securing mobile devices against threats and malware.

Check Point SandBlast Mobile provides a complete mobile security solution that protects devices from threats at the device operating system (OS), app, SMS, and network level – delivering a high threat catch rate for iOS and Android. It uses malicious app detection to find known and unknown threats by applying threat emulation, advanced static code analysis, app reputation and machine learning.

Specifically, SandBlast Mobile provides:

  • Advanced app analysis to detect known and unknown threats
  • Network activity monitoring for both suspicious or malicious behavior
  • Detection of malicious URLs in SMS messages
  • Assessment of device-level vulnerabilities to reduce the attack surface

The SandBlast Mobile solution provides integral risk assessment of the device, to which MaaS360 can enforce a set of policies or quarantine, that are in effect until the device is no longer at High Risk.

Such policy enforcement can be as granular as desired on the device, from disabling certain capabilities such as blocking access to corporate assets (email, intranet websites) thus providing protection of corporate network or data, to a complete selective wipe of corporate configuration.

The integration is straightforward: it requires the creation of a MaaS360 API administrator, the creation of device group (based on a device attribute, populated by the Checkpoint SandBlast app) on which a specific group-based compliance rule is distributed, with the goal of protecting devices from threats.

Please refer to the attached documentation below for implementation details.
