How do we create custom multi-columnar counters?

  • 1.  How do we create custom multi-columnar counters?

We see that paths like this already exist:

    /Pages/Verification Points/[PAGE]/ERROR/Cumulated/Count

We'd like to create our own, such as:

    /MyCounterTypes/[MYCOUNTERTYPE]/FAIL/Cumulated/Count

    /MyCounterTypes/[MYCOUNTERTYPE]/EXEMPTFAIL/Cumulated/Count

    /MyCounterTypes/[MYCOUNTERTYPE]/SUCCESS/Cumulated/Count

Can you point us to specific documentation about this?

I want to make sure I'm clear about what we need to do. We need to have our own custom Counters that show data in multiple columns for a single row. For example, in the Execution Report --> Performance Report --> Page Health page --> Page Health Summary table, each row shows one PAGE and two columns of data.

    Page | Attempts | Percent Healthy | | | Page | Some Page One | 1 | 100% | Some Page Two | 22 | 100% |

We need to be able to create a custom counter that would show up as a new column in the above, for example "Had Exempt Errors".

Further, we need to be able to replicate the above PAGE example, not with Pages but with all completely new *custom* counters (e.g. ,[ALLOWEDEXEMPTIONS]), for example:

    Allowed Exemptions | Attempts | Exempt | Pass | | | Failures | | Missing ContractID | 111 | 11 | 100 | Missing Case File | 22 | 2 | 20 |

Hi, there's two parts to this, unfortunately this forum doesn't allow pictures :-/

Step 1: Start RPT and go to Help->Help Contents->IBM Rational Performance

Tester API Reference->IBM Rational Performance Tester TES

    Click on the "Frames" option

Step 2: Click on IStatisticsManager2 to see information on the classes available for custom counters

Step 3: use these classes to make your own custom counters

Step 4: Make a customized report to include your custom counters, refer to

    http://www.testworkbench-community.com/blogs/customizing-performance-tester-web-analytics-reports

If get stuck we may be able to help via a SalesForce ticket

    Thank you

    Paul-

Thanks for replying, but we already know how to create Custom Counters. I'm asking specifically how to make the types of Custom Counters that will show up in the Execution Report exactly the way I've described here. How to do multiple columns is the key question.

Hi, my dev contact says you'll need 2 sets of custom counters

    one on the PAGE level

The other on the custom category ALLOWEDEXEMPTIONS

But you said you could make custom counters already, so I'm confused.

Once you get the counters, easy to add a new page to the report, bring up the Performance Report, edit

    1. on left hand side click + to add a blank page
    2. edit the Page Health page to use as a reference
    3. create the same objects in the new page for Allowed Exemptions as for Page Health
    4. but use the two custom counters

We're probably at the point of needing a Salesforce ticket

    Thank you

    Paul-

We've created (and registered) Custom Counters and have used them in the Execution Report.

How do we create Counter paths that include "[SOMETHING]" so that we can use that bracketed part of the path as a container for multiple counters? The same way RPT already does with "[PAGE]"

    Hi,

go ahead an open a ticket on this, we'll come up with an example or determine it's not feasible.

    Thank you

Can you post the URL or click sequence? The first two links below do not mention "Salesforce".

make this a sev 3, not really a bug

I'll keep an eye out for this ticket but one of my coworkers may end up grabbing it
