  • 1.  Can an SVC cluster have dissimilar nodes?

    Posted Fri March 15, 2024 03:10 AM

Ie, a 2 iogroup cluster formed by two SV2 and two SV3 nodes. I am almost sure it is not feasible, but I'd like to have confirmation.

    Thanks y'all.

    Hi Sergio,

sure, that's not a problem at all.

The SVC node interoperability is documented here:

Christian already answered it, just want to confirm it. I used to manage a 2 iogroup cluster made of 2x SV2 and 2x SV3, we still have it working but another person manage it.

Thanks, Luis. Wasn't the different FC Card layout between SV2 and SV3 a problem?

    Sergio,

it is true, that SV3 does support other slots for FC HBA than SV2.

If port mapping is an issue here, you may want to refer to IBM Docs article "Setting the Fibre Channel port mapping: IBM SAN Volume Controller 2145-SV3". It also has a link to the SVC Port Configurator web-tool.
