Would anyone know if it is a possibility to keep hotspare disk for additional DRAID 6 protection?

Hi Nadine - "Spares" are maintained as spare space WITHIN  the DRAID array rather than spare drives.  The amount of spare space can be modified at array creation time using the mkdistributedarray -rebuildareas cli command.  It can be set to 1-4.  A rebuild area is the equivalent capacity to one drive.   Best practice is one default are for up to 36 drives in an array, 2 rebuild areas for 37-72 drives, 3 rebuild areas for 73-100 drives, 4 rebuild areas for 101-128 drives.
