Hi Laurence,
well, I would suggest the FS5030 over the FS5010 (please mind the renaming of the products). The 5030 ist just slightly more expensive, but a lot more powerful. But this is just a recommendation astray from your actual question.
You can have Metro Mirror or LVM mirror. There are scripts available for Metro Mirror in AIX and LoP to switch between sites, since this is a administrator led action.
Maybe easier to implement, you might choose to have LVM mirror in place. Then all is transparent to your SystemMirror.
Any further question? Do not hesitate to come back to me ..
kind regards
Konrad

Subject: Remote mirroring for Storwize V5000 Gen2 query
I am investigating ways of having two Power 8/9 servers in two data centres, have SANs in each data centre (Storwize V5010 possibly) and have updates made to the production SAN be replicated in realtime to the DR SAN. Reading the documents it appears that this can be achieved using Metro Mirror
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/STHGUJ_8.2.1/com.ibm.storwize.tb5.821.doc/tbrd4_tbrd4ovr.html
The two data centres are about 40km apart connected via high-speed DWDM (Gigabit speeds)
Thanks
