This West Coast IBM Storage Scale users group event is open to all IBM Storage Scale (formerly GPFS) and IBM Storage Scale System (formerly ESS) users, as well as those who wish to learn more about IBM Storage Scale.

Day 1 - August 6 

Accelerate your AI Model, Training and Inferencing with IBM Storage Scale – Scale New User Day!


The Storage Scale Users Group event begins with a Current and New Users’ Day. Day One is geared to those interested in learning how IBM Storage Scale can accelerate AI workloads and access data anywhere and everywhere with a global data platform. This one-day session will explore optimizing your NVDIA Superpod and NVDIA DGX environments for model training and inferencing with IBM Storage scale. 

Day 2  - August 7 
IBM Storage Scale Users Group

Day Two continues with a discussion on the IBM Storage Scale strategy, what’s new in Storage Scale and Scale System, features and roadmap. This one-day session will feature discussions from long term Storage Scale users, and a user presented case study topic.  It will also include a session on IBM Storage Scale for AI workloads with NVIDIA;  a great session with IBM Research about IBM Infrastructure used in IBM’s AI models;  Data Resiliency with Storage Scale; and Why SuperMicro is a great choice for running Storage Scale.

Speakers include:

  • Chris Maestas, IBM CTO Data and AI Storage Solutions
  • IBM Research:
    • Vasily Tarasov, Principal Research Scientist, Storage for Data, AI, Hybrid Cloud
    • Brian Belgodere, Senior Technical Staff Member, Hybrid Cloud, AI, Data Platforms
    • They will present this excellent white paper showing an overview of IBM’s internal AI infrastructure and how IBM manages its own AI workloads. Actual and reference architecture for IBM’s “Vela” and “Blue Vela” systems for AI, which support IBM’s AI Granite Models using Nvidia GPU’s with Storage Scale and Storage Scale System 6000s.

BONUS DAY 3 – Aug 8 – Storage Scale Hands-On Workshop (by Nomination)

There is an additional day at this event. To attend, you need to be nominated by your IBM representative. Please contact your IBM representative to discuss how you may be nominated to attend. Lab seats are limited and on a first come basis. Nominations close on August 1.

 

Day 3 – IBM Storage Scale Hands-on ATG Workshop

Organizer: IBM North America Advanced Technology Group / Venue -  IBM San Jose, 555 Bailey Ave (Room # K222 - California Great Room) San Jose, CA 95141 (Google Map link here)

This day is open by nomination, to customers that want to better understand Storage Scale features and functions.  Attendees will gain a deep Hands-On Experience of both Storage Scale and the Storage Scale System.  We will delve into basic and advanced features and functions, such as: Installing a Storage Scale cluster, setting up protocol nodes, using ILM policies, and working with AFM.  Drive a Storage Scale GUI and more!

Important Note: Dress is business casual and customers will need to bring their own laptop for hands on labs. Attendees will be responsible for their own travel and lodging arrangements and expenses.
