Hello Christina, its nice to meet you. My name is Benjamin, I also go by Ben so either is fine. I'm hoping to learn enough to start using IBM Business Analytics to increase engagement and improve key metrics. I don't know enough yet to accomplish this right now but that's why its great to have education forums like this. Looking forward to learning more here and thank you for the info and support!

Hi @Benjamin Ogden, nice to meet you and glad to have you as a member of our community. A few of our OMs have introduced themselves over in another thread, and there are a ton of great resources to dig into across the community. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to reach out to any of us. I also highly recommend taking a look through the events page and registering for some of our upcoming webinars or taking a look at few of the past - great education and training from experts, including specific use cases!

    Hello Christina,

Thank you very much for putting this post out there and for engaging with the community.  As a newer community member it is helpful to see how you've broken out the various areas.

One feedback item I would like to share for possible improvement is the accessibility of recorded Business Analytics Webinars.

For other webinars I've attended in the industry a given webinar is recorded, then placed on a given YouTube channel.  Separately an email is sent the to all registered attendees the following day with links to where these recorded webinars can be found.  Navigating to these links directs attendees to an easily accessed list of previous webinars similar to what is found on:  https://www.ibm.com/events

As a newer community member, *my experience so far is lists such as https://www.ibm.com/events unfortunately only contain "future" events.  When I've asked about this during the "ask me anything" webinar I was given a specific link https://www.ibm.com/events/4QZDNNES to a specific webinar but I was unable to get a reply on where I can find a full searchable list of previous webinars.  As a technical leader for a team, I'd like the ability to share previous recordings or send a team member to a searchable list of previous recordings that I know contains their answer.  Does a list of all previous webinars exist somewhere, and I just haven't looked in the right place?

I've also found that after registering for the Webinar, I can place the calendar invite in Outlook.  When the day of the webinar arrives, I click on the link, and instead of going directly into the webinar, I land back on the registration page.  After spending a moment thinking I need to re-register, I then find the small "already registered" link, click on it, and am told I am not registered yet (even though I know I am, as I have the calendar invite that was sent to me).  I re-register and in time I am allowed into the webinar, but likely a few minutes later than I would if I had just been allowed directly into the meeting from the Outlook invite link.

In the webinar I attended, an answer was sent to me literally one second before the webinar ended.  But I was unable to click the link fast enough before the session ended, so as a user I was left frustrated knowing an answer was sent, but unable to review it.  Perhaps a transcript of anonymous questions/answers would be helpful as a recap in that situation?

Overall my recommendation would be to send an email to all registered attendees after other technical webinars are given, with a link to the recorded event.  That way if they missed the webinar due to other business interruptions, they can still easily find and view the webinar on their own time.  I would also recommend including answers to unanswered questions to this email.  (I've heard webinar hosts mention that unanswered questions would be replied to via email, but haven't seen an email reply for my unanswered questions posted, and there may be learning opportunities for the community from questions that others have posted but were unanswered during the webinar.)

I think having a link from the calendar invite allowing us to directly enter the webinar, providing a site with a list of all previously recorded webinars, and sending a post-webinar email with links to the recording as well as the unanswered Q/A for all to read/learn from, would be of value to the community.

Thank you in advance for considering the above constructive feedback.

    Mark

Hi @Mark Kimsey, thanks for your feedback! Happy to help you address some of the issues you are finding.

Webinar replays: from the top menu bar, under the Events dropdown, you'll find On Demand Webinars (link). Here you'll see community events that you can replay at your convenience.

Already registered?: I understand this issue and have the same experience - however, there may be some variation to that if you received a reminder email about the event. This would have acknowledged that you registered and provided you the appropriate links to log in to the live event directly from the email, which would contain your email address and pre-populate it in the provided link. Let me consult our partners with more expertise on the ON24 platform to see if there's any additional insight to be shared.

Follow-up: Very good suggestion! We normally send a follow-up to all webinar registrants, whether they attended or not. The same link in that email provides access to the replay, which would have included the response to any questions that came in before the close of the call. If that wasn't a part of your experience, we can double check that all gears are firing as they should and make adjustments where needed. In addition, I can help facilitate discussions about the AMAs and other webinars, where folks can ask questions and receive answers in the public forum!

Hope this helps, and thanks for reaching out.

Thanks for the call out to the CQM to DQM conversion article.  I feel like a lot of organizations are stuck in CQM, like ours, and need to find the path to DQM.  Our hope is that using Motio CI will help make the process easier.

Thanks @Christiaan van 't Klaphek! We are in the process of adding the new and improved accelerator catalog to the IBM Business Analytics Community. It is currently featured about 3/4 down the Business Analytics Community homepage

I know @SAMI EL CHEIKH and @SAM WONG are both working on this and may have additional updates, or can answer specific questions you may have.

    Thanks again!

    Hello,

Two weeks ago, I started a newly created Data Visualization Analyst position.  After I arrived, I was told that the University is upgrading to Cognos 11. So, along with the usual new-employee learning curve, I am trying to get up to speed on creating dashboards.

If someone could point me to the correct place to post all of my complete newbie questions, I would appreciate it.  (And I mean "COMPLETE" newbie. For example, in one of the videos I watched, the instructor grabbed Count from the data window, but I am not seeing Count in the window for my data. Am I overlooking it somehow, or do I need to add a column of 1's to my data model?)

I am grateful for all of the training videos and whatnot out there, but it is a bit like drinking from the proverbial fire hose at the moment.

    Hi @Susan Ray,

Congrats on your new role and welcome to Cognos! We are excited that you joined!

As a starting point, I would recommend doing the hands-on labs here - IBM Cognos Demos
These are designed to walk you through step by step with a lot of details along the way. You can also request a VM image to get the exact same environment as well.

Once that is done, if you have more questions, you can definitely ask them on the Cognos Community.

    All the best!
