Have you heard about IBM Planning Analytics, the evolution of IBM TM1?

IBM Planning Analytics is an integrated planning solution.  It is not only streamlining our customers’ planning processes, it is also providing customers with the functionality to dive deeper into their data to forecast with greater accuracy.  It enables customers to scale as they grow and change and gives them the flexibility to plan without changing their business process.  But you don’t have to take our word for it.  In 2018, IBM was positioned as a Leader in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Cloud FP&A, and just received “top ranks” in 22 KPIs from BARC Planning Survey 19 including performance satisfaction, user experience, and product satisfaction.

If you have not updated to IBM Planning Analytics, what are you waiting for?

Here are the answers to some common questions about migrating:

Question: Isn’t migrating a lengthy and expensive process?
Answer: No! Migrating to IBM Planning Analytics is the same as with previous versions of IBM TM1 and if you have a current S&S agreement, there are no additional costs. Simply install and go.

Question: Will my current models still work when I migrate?
Answer: Absolutely! In fact, you are not required to adopt the new features or components for IBM Planning Analytics to function properly—you can continue business as usual.  You will however be able to take advantage of better performance, the latest conformance points, and the knowledge you’re running the newest and best Planning Analytics yet.

Question: Can I test some of the new components before deploying?
Answer: Yes! Modeler licenses automatically provide entitlements to IBM Planning Analytics Workspace and every user has access to IBM Planning Analytics for Microsoft Excel, so you can test and explore all the components of IBM Planning Analytics.

Question: But I love the power of TM1. Why is it going away?
Answer: It’s not. TM1 continues to be the engine that powers the robust analytical capabilities of IBM Planning Analytics, so you can still do all the complex multidimensional modeling you’re used to.

Hi Camille.  Most of the models, especially on 10.2 still works in Planning Analytics, but there are a few exceptions.  I would recommend to schedule a quick 15-30 minute session via tm1upgrade@ca.ibm.com
