The latest release of Cognos Analytics 11.1.6 (R6) provides new and enhanced AI capabilities that make it faster and easier to create sophisticated dashboards and work with your data.  There are a wide range of new capabilities that we are excited to share with you, and they range from, support for Expand and Collapse functionality for crosstabs when using OLAP data sources, to the new Cognitive Learning pane that answers user questions when they need help.

Some of the key highlights are:

  • Guided dashboard creation - Improvements to the ‘Create dashboard’ feature with support for context and information in field
  • AI Learning - Usage and preferences information is kept and used in subsequent AI recommendations to provide a more personalized experience.
  • Columns can now be dragged directly from the Source panel to the data module panel – handy when you want to update the DM.
  • Stand-alone calculations are now fully supported with AI and advanced analytics features, including the AI assistant, relationship diagram in Explore, and the decision tree, spiral, and driver analysis visualizations
  • Analytics users license can now use Explore - Updated license terms to allow Analytics Users (Client hosted) to be able to use the Explore experience without needing an Analytics Explorer License.
  • Watson Knowledge Catalog (WKC) is now supported as a data source - Define your database connections once in WKC and use it in Cognos along with multiple other products without having to define them in different data silos everywhere

Let me be the first to comment, here's a joke - if you announce something often enough it's bound to happen eventually!
Now, let's wait a few weeks before downloading and installing this to be sure it doesn't get taken away first like 11.1.5 :)
