  • 1.  Performing Spearman test on non normally distributed data on SPSS

    Posted Thu February 08, 2024 10:21 AM

    Hey,

I'm having problem performing Spearman test on non normally distributed data (108 subjects) to see if two continuous variables correlate with each other. I get this error message every time I try to perform the test

"Too many cases for the available storage. NONPAR CORR cannot continue."

    Thanks in advance

    From the CSR...

NONPAR CORR must store cases in memory to build matrices. SAMPLE selects a random sample of cases when computer resources are insufficient to store all cases. SAMPLE has no additional specifications.

Thank you! Any suggestion for how to perform Spearman test? Is it possible to use crosstabs in SPSS to get around this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

If you are able to compute the ranks, you can then just do the Pearson correlation on them, if you don't want to just sample as per the syntax.
