  • 1.  Mac Sonoma 14.3.1 - SPSS 29.0.2 - Local Server Login Error Persists

    Posted Thu February 22, 2024 03:49 PM

    Hi all!

I am running Mac Sonoma 14.3.1 with no updates pending. Last year, sadly, I lost access to SPSS with the Sonoma update. Now, my campus is offering a free update to SPSS (29.0.2). I uninstalled the old version, restarted my computer, and installed 29.0.2. However, I still get the same "Local Server Login" error. I was instructed by the campus IT department that I should try deleting all SPSS data files, and the application, restart computer, and reinstall. This also did not work.

We assume there is some relic file on the computer, but we're not sure. It is not showing anything on my finder. Has anyone else had this issue?

    Thanks!

    GHi @Maegan Schmitz
It is not enough to simply delete the SPSs Sstatistics install path.  There are other configuration and virtual user environmnets to deal with.

Please follow this technote to completely uninstall IBM SPS Statistics from your Mac:

    Hi @Zack Galbraith,
This issue originates with installing a version of IBM SPSS Statistics for macOS to an unsupported platform.  In this case that untested and unsupported platform is macOS 14.x (Sonoma).  Failed attempts to install an interim fix to allow Statistics to run on macOS 14.x exacerbates the problem.  At that point, it is best to perform a complete uninstall of IBM SPSS Statistics.  Since there are user-specific configuration and preferences files stored outside of the main install path for IBM SPS Statistics, it is better to use this technote - Script to completely remove (uninstall) SPSS Statistics (macOS) rather than to simply delete the install path and hope for the best.

Once you have fully removed IBM SPSS Statistics from your Mac, Download and install the release fully tested and supported for macOS 14.x (Sonoma) - IBM SPSS Statistics 29.0.2.0

I have downloaded and installed the tested version of SPSS 29.0.2.0, on my Mac Sonoma 14.5. The server login problem persists,

and I don't know how to solve it. Could you please help with this?
