The Advanced Technology Group (ATG) at IBM has curated two dedicated channels on IBM MediaCenter to share our expertise and insights on IBM Storage and Power Systems. These channels are for anyone who is interested in learning more about IBM Storage technologies. We encourage you to check out the channels and learn more!

Storage – Deep dive into the world of IBM Storage! This channel features technical videos on a wide range of Storage topics including IBM FlashSystem, DS8K, Fusion, Storage Scale & Storage Scale System, Storage Virtualize, Storage Ceph, Cloud Object Storage, Tape and more. If you want to accelerate your knowledge, check out the special playlist called Accelerate with ATG. These playlists feature current and past year webinars that are packed with technical details about IBM Storage Systems and related solutions. Also, explore our Level Up Video playlist for 12-minute demos and presentations focused on IBM Cloud Object Storage and IBM Storage Ceph.

ISV on Power - The channel features a variety of videos from IBM ATG experts on a variety of topics related to IBM Power Systems. It includes a Technology Insight series with several episodes reviewing various topics on the IBM VM Recovery Manager for DR (VMRM), IBM VM Recovery Manager for HA, and the PowerHA SystemMirror for AIX Clustering offerings. The topics include architectural discussions, storage and zoning implementation requirements, interoperability with solutions like PowerVC, and various best practices and details on the AIX Geographic Logical Volume Mirroring solution. In addition, there are several case studies and product demonstrations including: an Oracle DB Hybrid PowerVS deployment using AIX GLVM replication between an on-prem landscape in Montpellier and a target PowerVS datacenter in Dallas, as well as demonstrations of an Oracle database deployed on PowerVS leveraging the new Resource Optimized High Availability (ROHA) feature, with many more videos to come.

    📌Upcoming 2025 Webinar Sessions:

📆 Accelerate with ATG: IBM Cyber Vault Introduction 101  – 3/20/25 at 12:00 PM ET
Join the Advanced Technology Group (ATG) and Expert Tom Bish for an exclusive webinar exploring IBM Cyber Vault blueprint! Discover how this solution can help customers detect and recover from logical corruption of their data due to malicious or accidental causes. Learn the key technologies and concepts used to protect the data, perform validation, forensic analysis, and recovery capabilities to bring a customer back to an operational state as quickly as possible in the event of an attack. This session will focus on the primary environments of IBM Z and i which make use of this blueprint, as well efforts to extend this to Power/AIX. Don't miss this opportunity to gain invaluable insights into data protection and recovery capabilities and register today!

📣 IBM Storage Updates of the week

    New IBM® Redbooks®

📌IBM Storage Ceph Concepts and Architecture Guide: IBM Storage Ceph is an IBM® supported distribution of the open-source Ceph platform that provides massively scalable object, block, and file storage in a single system. IBM Storage Ceph is designed to infuse AI with enterprise resiliency, consolidate data with software simplicity, and run on multiple hardware platforms to provide flexibility and lower costs. Engineered to be self-healing and self-managing with no single point of failure, it includes storage analytics for critical insights into growing amounts of data. IBM Storage Ceph can be used as a simple and efficient way to build a data lakehouse for IBM watsonx.data and for next-generation AI workloads.

This IBM Redpaper publication explains the concepts and architecture of IBM Storage Ceph in a clear and concise way. For more information about how to implement IBM Storage Ceph for real-life solutions, see IBM Storage Ceph Solutions Guide, REDP-5715.

📌IBM TS7700 R5.4 Guide: This IBM® Redbooks® publication covers IBM TS7700 R5.4 and R5.4 PGA1. The IBM TS7700 is part of a family of IBM Enterprise tape products. This book is intended for system architects and storage administrators who want to integrate their storage systems for optimal operation. Building on over 25 years of experience, the R5.4 release includes many features that enable improved performance, usability, and security. Highlights include the IBM TS7700 Advanced Object Store, an all flash TS7770, grid resiliency enhancements, and Logical WORM retention. By using the same hierarchical storage techniques, the TS7700 (TS7770 and TS7760) can also off load to object storage. Because object storage is cloud-based and accessible from different regions, the TS7700 Cloud Storage Tier support essentially allows the cloud to be an extension of the grid.

As of this writing, the TS7700C supports the ability to off load to IBM Cloud® Object Storage, and Amazon S3. This publication explains features and concepts that are specific to the IBM TS7700 as of release R5.3. The R5.3 microcode level provides IBM TS7700 Cloud Storage Tier enhancements, IBM DS8000 Object Storage enhancements, Management Interface dual control security, and other smaller enhancements. The R5.3 microcode level can be installed on the IBM TS7770 and IBM TS7760 models only.
