  • 1.  ARC1581I UNEXPECTED HTTP STATUS 401 DURING A GET FOR URI

    Posted 3 days ago

    Good afternoon.

I need help to figure something out. I am implementing TCT Object Storage with my TS7700. Everything is setup, including all the connections and configurations.

When I performed the command "SETSYS CLOUD(NAME(ISTCLOUD) CLOUDCREDENTIALS)" that it should be my last step before I start to migrate my datasets.

After I reply the WTO, I am receiving a error message saying that User or Password is wrong with the message below:

ARC1581I UNEXPECTED HTTP STATUS 401 DURING A GET FOR URI

     ARC1581I (CONT.) https://xxxxx ERRTEXT H

    ARC1581I (CONT.) Unauthorized

Maybe there is a catch, but I can figure it out.

I used a user/password in the DS8000(Created only for the TCT) and also another one in the DS8000, but the proxy user and password(Found in the DS8000 GUI Settings/Call Home). I really don't know what else I can try.

My SMS configuration is like this:

    To ALTER Network Connection, Specify:

    Provider: TAPE-OBJECT
    Identity: PB801SRVNCCIBM
    Endpoint . . . . https://DS8000-hmc1.com/
    Port Number  . . 8452      (0 to 65535)
    SSL Version  . .  TLSV12         (TLSV12, TLSV11, TLSV1, SSLV3 or blank)
    SSL Key  . . . .    *AUTH*/*

I already check the error and looks like I am using the wrong user as the password matches with what I have in the DS8000.

    Can someone help me, please?

    Hi Andre,

One thing to note is that the password is case sensitive.  How did you respond to the WTOR?  If it was straight from SDSF log then it's possible that the password got folded to uppercase even if you quoted it.  We recommend using the SDSF command extension and single quote the reply so that the case of the password is preserved.

    Hope this helps!

BTW, we have some enhancements in DFSMShsm that allow us to do a better job of managing the credentials more securely and allow for multiple endpoints to be configured for higher availability of the solution.  If this is something you are interested in please reach out to me directly, I would be happy to share information with you.

    Thanks,
