IBM Storage Champion Spotlight
IBM Champions are non-IBMers who love to advocate. The IBM Champions program, including the IBM Rising Champions Advocacy Badge program, exists because of outstanding IBM technology advocates - clients, business partners, consultants, and educators β most of whom are just great IT people like yourself. They inspire and motivate us all to share and exchange their and our stories, knowledge, and expertise with the world, all beyond the scope of just their jobs. They embody Community!
Meet @Nezih Boyacioglu who is an IBM Storage Champion, IBM Redbook Author, and Storage Expert who designs, implements, and troubleshoots on IBM storage subsystems (DS8000, SVC, Storwize Family, FlashSystem, Tape Libraries). Connect with Nezih on LinkedIn here.
You too can become an IBM Champion! See more about the IBM Champions program here. See the IBM Champions Community home page here. Nominations start September 2024.
π IBM Storage Corner
Did you know? Storage Area Networks (SAN) came on the IT scene circa 1998. IBM Storage was one of the first to market back then, with a comprehensive storage portfolio to address key customer Fibre Channel primary storage needs.
At that time, those needs were:
- Shared Storage
- Better Storage Performance (1 Gbit/sec! β a LOT in the 1990s)
- Data Movement
Sound familiar to today's hyperscale world?
Fast forward about ΒΌ century; SAN continues to be a core enterprise storage technology underpinning the modern IT infrastructure. Did you knowβ¦β¦. that IBM continues to provide a complete end-to-end solution for IBM Infrastructure (POWER, Z, Fusion with Red Hat OpenShift, Flash, Disk, Tape), that includes the Storage Area Networking:
