Speaker Bio: Steen Rasmussen is a Principal Engineering Services Architect currently instrumental in the ongoing development and support of the Broadcom Db2 tools. In 1985 Steen started as an IMS/DB2 DBA at a major insurance company in Denmark working with all aspects of DB2 - like tuning, application design and implementation, education of developers, backup and recovery planning and automation of housekeeping processes. In 1995 Steen became a technical manager at PLATINUM Technology managing technical support and presales for the DB2 products.
Steen has been working with Db2 for z/OS Release 1.0 since 1985 and is always looking for new opportunities in the Broadcom/CA Db2 solutions which can help customers manage Db2 more efficiently. Besides from providing support to the teams in the field as well as internal groups at CA technologies working with Db2, Steen is also a frequent speaker at IDUG in North America, EMEA and Australia as well as local Db2 User Groups around the world. Steen is honored to be an IBM Champion for five years.

Abstract  :  Tablespace Evolvement – PBR2 is the new kid on the block:
The tablespace design has been through many changes and enhancements. This presentation will cover each of the tablespace types including pro’s and con’s and limitations as well as best practices. The emphasis will be on the new tablespace type (Relative Addressing) introduced in Db2 12 using a live Db2 12 system to illustrate the details.

Short  :  Tablespace design has evolved a lot over the past +3 decades and the new Relative Byte Addressing will solve most if not all the nightmares from the DBA perspective.

-) Tablespace types since the early days of Db2 and their pro’s and con’s.
-) Table Controlled Partitioning
-) Partition By Growth
-) Relative Byte Addressing
-) Live walk through of all the new DDL attributes, utility processing and enhancements to schema changes

Speaker Bio: Kai Stroh earned a Computer Science degree from the University of Darmstadt and is a mainframe software developer specializing in DB2 utilities for z/OS. He designs and builds innovative DB2 applications and utilities often working onsite or remotely with UBS’ international clients. He easily navigates his way around DB2 internals and knows how to move data and definitions across DB2 versions, and this includes the unique in-house DB2 subsystems which each have their own little technical adaptations.
Abstract: Data Masking for Db2 on z/OS:
This presentation discusses requirements for algorithms that can be used to mask personally identifiable information (PII) in QA and test environments that were populated with production data. We will have a look at how to mask names, postal addresses, e-mail addresses, social security numbers, credit card numbers, bank account details, birthdays, and other pieces of information. We will discuss how to implement the algorithms with respect to constraints in the database and in the applications. Masking algorithms must be designed so that they can run repeatedly with the same results, and must generate plausible data such as street names and ZIP codes that match the city. In addition, we will have a look at possible points in a typical test data management process where data masking can be applied.

Speaker Bio: Pavel Sustr is a Senior Software Engineer with IBM Db2 LUW kernel development. Always thrilled to work on hard-to-crack puzzles. Expertise in Db2 LUW kernel architecture, configuration and administration, advanced problem determination, memory architecture, memory leak troubleshooting, and the assembly language. Hands-on development experience with buffer pool management, storage, prefetching, page cleaning, transaction logging, recovery, monitoring, and problem determination. As a member of the Db2 team, Pavel spent years in Db2 L2/L3 advanced support (over 1,500 resolved cases), then transitioned to Db2 LUW kernel development where he became Senior Software Engineer and later Development Manager for multiple core Db2 kernel components. In his past life Pavel was an application developer mostly using C++, SQL, .NET, Oracle, MS-SQL, and Informix on Windows, Linux, Solaris, and HP-UX.

Abstract: My Favorite Db2 Problem Determination Tricks
As a member of the Db2 LUW development and support team, Pavel uses Db2 problem determination techniques on a daily basis. Whether it is problems reported by test teams, related to his newly written code (rarely happens ;-), or tough customer reports from the field, there are techniques that can lead to a problem resolution more quickly. This session presents some less known or in some cases undocumented tricks and hidden gems that might help the user troubleshoot Db2 issues and even build their reputation as a serious Db2 hacker/insider.

Objectives:
Present less known problem determination techniques
Understand the diagnostic data returned by the techniques
Discuss the best use cases for the individual techniques
Master shortcuts leading to problem resolution
Get an insider view of problem determination techniques used by the IBM Db2 team

Speaker Bio: Brad Rowen is a Hybrid Data Management specialist for IBM, with deep experience in system and database administration and  managed services on distributed platforms.

Abstract: Feeding Data to your enterprise is a lot like feeding a family. How do you feed a growing enterprise, NOW, with governed data that you know will keep them healthy and give them what they need to operate and innovate? How do you get them collaborating and working together? By getting data engineers, data stewards, data scientists and users of all kinds working from the same modern platform, Cloud Pak for Data.
