    The IIUG Insider editorial this month questioned how many IBMers still know Informix exists and whether there is a roadmap for 2020 and beyond.

    On the first question members can rest assured the IBM Sales Team, at least, won't forget renewal dates; the rest I can only speculate about. On the second I am sure there is a roadmap: I have seen it. However it is from HCL and not IBM of course. Is the concern expressed specific to IBM? To the uninitiated the editorial may give the impression that there is no roadmap.

    I remember seeing the agenda that the Informix Roadmap will be released at IIUG Inforrmix Tech Day on the 24th and 26th of this month, but I can't find it now.
    I'm really curious about the Informix roadmap for 2020 and beyond.

    Yes, Gary's editorial is, IMHO, poorly worded.  He has seen the roadmap and knows one exists.

    Every year it is updated with detail for the next 6-8 quarters. HCL, as the development and support partner , has publicly committed to 15+ years of new development and enhancement to the product. There are new fixpaks for both 12.10 and 14.10 and planning is currently under way for the V.next release.

    Informix is a supported component in the IBM Cloud Pak for Data (CP4D) offering. At the recent all-hands IBM technical and sales training events there was a hands-on lab featuring Informix and other products in CP4D. It is reasonable to assume, (cough, cough) that other Informix offerings in the IBM Cloud Pak family will be available soon.

    Yes I second Carlton's response as the IBM Offering Manager. There are fixpacks with features coming every quarter plus likely a Vnext in 2021. Please keep your request coming via the RFE system. There are some really good ones there - not all will be done but it helps prioritize. 
    HCL acts as the development and support arms for IBM Informix.

    I can't really "undress" my IBM clothes, but my answer is not an official answer.
    First, let me ask... Can anyone point me to 3 competitor products for which a roadmap is available publicly?
    I keep getting this question from customers (not only for Informix), and I always ask the question above... still waiting for a clear answer.

    Please keep in mind, that a publicly available roadmap could be interpreted as a compromise from the software producer... And that's a very tricky situation for publicly trading companies....
