  • 1.  Multiple Informix Session & 1525 Port

    Hello,

I think I know the answer but in case of I'm wrong ;-)

If I run multiple instance of Informix Server [Same Version 14.10.FC3] on the same Linux Machine [Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7.9], is it mandatory to have for each instance a different port ? Are we not able to use the standard port 1525 for all the instances ?

    Regards,

    Noreddine:

The combination of IP address (or host name) and Port # (or service name) must be unique among not just all instances on a single box but among all aliases of all instances on a single box.

If your server has multiple DBSERVERALIAS entries that are network connections (say one for encrypted communication, another using SSL, etc.) then each much either use a different NIC or a different port on the same NIC.

We have some legacy Delphi apps that are locked to port 1525. As Art suggested, we've gotten around this by using multiple IPs, one for each DBSERVERNAME/DBSERVERALIAS that needs to listen on that port.
