Noreddine:
The combination of IP address (or host name) and Port # (or service name) must be unique among not just all instances on a single box but among all aliases of all instances on a single box.
If your server has multiple DBSERVERALIAS entries that are network connections (say one for encrypted communication, another using SSL, etc.) then each much either use a different NIC or a different port on the same NIC.

I think I know the answer but in case of I'm wrong ;-)
If I run multiple instance of Informix Server [Same Version 14.10.FC3] on the same Linux Machine [Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 7.9], is it mandatory to have for each instance a different port ? Are we not able to use the standard port 1525 for all the instances ?
