Planning to upgrade a set of 11.70 databases to 14.10. Need to know more about how users/connections are counted/limited for the various editions. Seems to be 25 max.
Installed the 14.10.C5 version on Windows Server 2012. Didn't run the version installer, so by default, developer edition. I opened up a bunch of command tool windows and in each one opened a database with dbaccess. This worked 25 times and failed on the 26th with a -25571 (could not create thread) error.
Thinking this may have been a developer edition limit, I ran the version installer to convert it to Innovator-C. (onstat -v confirms it's now the ie edition). Same thing. 25 dbacess's, the 26th fails. Is this an Informix limit for these 2 editions? Or an Informix setting? Or is this something else in the OS that's causing this?
What are the limits for users/connections/threads for 14.10 Developer and Innovator-C editions? Or any other editions.
Onstat -u shows 41 threads (25 are my dbacess commands, 16 are various informix user threads).
The code that uses the database is FourJs Genero. There's a container box and each screen runs a new program that opens a window within the container. Each of these sub-programs has a connection to the database. 25 connections is very limiting. It's not 25 people. We can have only 6 people. If they try to open up 5 screens while using our program, that's 30 connections to the database, which is over the limit we're seeing of 25. If we can't go over 25 programs connecting to the database, that's a problem.
