  1.  Can we use DB2 for Netcool ? instead of using its own in-memory database  (for Object server database) ?
  2.  As per this  link  (

Hi,

DB2 is not a free tool and also no match for the functionality of an ObjectServer. The best way to continue an existing Netcool (OMNIbus & Impact) installation is to use the trade up options into one of the two available bundles:

- IBM Netcool Operations Insight or

- IBM Cloud Pak for Watson AIOps

Either way you can continue what you have and expand into the the new functionalities e.g. the Event Analytics engine CNEA.

Also, it's not "Netcool" that is EOS in September 2022 - it's that you will no longer be able to buy Netcool/OMNIbus and Netcool/Impact as standalone products. As Fred says, you will still be able to buy Watson AIOps or NOI, which both include Netcool components. A deployment of Event Manager on OCP contains a containerised ObjectServer and Impact Server, for instance. If you deploy in hybrid mode, you need to deploy OMNIbus and Impact on-prem, and only the cloud-native parts on OpenShift. Hence, although we won't be selling it as a standalone product anymore, we most certainly will still be supporting it and it will continue to be part of the solution for the forseeable future.

Hello Veeramani, 
What is changing with that EOS article is the license model. Your team needs to contact IBM sales to update the License entitlement.
You can continue using Netcool as you have today (with the new license model). You can also include the new NOI components (Hybrid solution) to your architecture or you can install the new components (brand new installation).They explain the different models you can use once you update the license.
