What are folks doing in the predictive analytics space?  How are you showing what you will look like in 5-10 years?

We started to think about prediction (of quantities) about a year ago. For now we use it for a some services (e.g. storage, server, workstations ...) - guess where!?   Exactly, in Excel :-D

For now we use 4 different calculation types and choose the most accurate when we have the results. Unfortunately is Excel on it's limits, a lot of manual doing and long calculation times are not avoidable. So we will start soon to build our predictive engine with R. 

What-if analyses are very difficult and like you, we often end back up in Excel. May look at other products to augment at some point, not sure.

This is a prime gap for Apptio engineering to jump in and solve it for all of us

@Brian Basden - should we add as an Idea on Community or do you think this would be better sent via the Support Request system as an enhancement?
