IBM MQ Bundling in MS Windows Cluster (Active-Passive)

  • 1.  IBM MQ Bundling in MS Windows Cluster (Active-Passive)

    Posted Thu July 30, 2020 12:47 PM

I have a Microsoft windows cluster (Active-Passive) available in which IBM MQ v9 is installed in both the nodes. However, MQ is active is on any one node, while calculating IBM PVU for MQ v9 which product name has to be considered so as to avail the subcapacity licensing of MQ??

    Node 01 - 2 Cores

    Node 02 - 2 Cores

While verifying under all metrics, both full capacity and sub capacity show as 280 PVUs.

My expectation is Full Capacity should be 280 and Sub-Capacity should be 140 PVUs (Due to active-passive). Not sure, if my expectation is as per the process or not

    Hi,

The passive (or in IBM terms "warm or cold-standby") node can be excluded in ILMT from metric calculation. Just make sure that you add a clear comment explaining that it is a warm or cold standby node and what the hostname is of the active node.

    how to is here: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SS8JFY_9.2.0/com.ibm.lmt.doc/Inventory/softinv/t_sc_excluding_software_instances.html
