Just curious, what:

OS?  
hardware?
If Linux, kernel version?

The longest uptime I ever saw on a box I logged into was 2487 days,
Solaris 8 on a public shell server for an ISP.  They had ftp and 
telnet open on it the whole time.  Hardware was being decomissioned, 
else it would probably still be running.

    In one of our client's system - the UpTime was - 1547days: Ministry of Interior - Bulgaria "Border Control" - real 24x7 system.

    Informix 12.10.FC9 - Red Hat 7.3

    Till last week ...

    Down time after restarting:  - 4 min.

    One of our clients had a server that in November 2021 had been up for 3029 days - over 8 years!  I took a screen shot so I would have a record.  The Informix version is 7.31.UC5.  I'm not sure of the OS, but some of their old servers were on HPUX.

    I had one instance that ran for around 1,500 days, until we had to shut down for a planned power outage.  I took the opportunity to upgrade from 7.31 to 9.3, and then it ran another 1,100 or so until we decided to update to 9.4.  

    We had another that kept mysteriously going down.  It was a HP workstation style box, sitting on a desk in the server room of the other plant (ninety miles from my location at the time), with the disk array next to it.  Eventually, I discovered that someone had a habit of going behind the desk to get to his AS400, instead of around it.  He would frequently step on the cord for the drive array and replace it, thinking nothing of it.  The server crashed, and I would call over and have one of the network guys check it, see the console locked up and reboot it.  This went on every couple of months until I happened to be over at the other plant and saw what happened.

    The longest Informix uptime that I am aware of is from a story that Lester Knutsen tells. He was called to a new client because one of the systems that they used to run their business had stopped working and someone remembered that it had something to do with an Informix database. He went on site and asked where the server was. No one knew, but they took him to their "computer room". None of the servers there were running Informix or even had it installed. Going to their network patch panel with their "network guy" they found a line that didn't see to go to any server in the room nor to the work areas of the company. Tracing the wires through the floor and ceiling they found that it went behind a wall. One of the older employees remembered that there was an old telephone equipment closet at that location that had been walled up 10 or 15 years before. Breaking into that wall they found the old closet and inside was an old Intel 386 machine that had crashed because it's power supply had failed. Someone went out and bought a new power supply and the machine was resurrected. When it booted up into SCO Unix an Informix engine booted with it. I don't remember if that was a v5.xx or early 7.xx release, but once it was back online and finished Fast Recovery, the application could connect and was back online.

    So, that would be between 3600 and 5400 days online before it crashed!
