  • 1.  Informix using UFS vs vXFS on Solaris or Linux?

    Posted Tue April 23, 2024 08:11 AM

    Hi,

Last time I had problem with corrupted file system on Solaris/Veritas using UFS, there is some suggestion to change from UFS to vXFS I guess it is easier to administrate the cluster.

I did some search and found a lot written about using vXFS for databases or other application which have a lot of write/read, but it is a bit old information.

I wonder if anybody have any experience using Informix on vXFS on Solaris ?

Soon I will migrate to Linux does vXFS works better on Linux or do I need to choose something else ?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi,

Solaris+Veritas+Informix+volume mirroring best is using raw device (30 years without problems) and not cooked files (UFS or vxfs)

    Hi Gracia,

I agree, I have other environments that use it and it works without any problems, but in this environment they wanted cooked files, therefore I have to choose FS which may be best for Informix.
