Yes, I found that. Its frankly useless for me. We apply roles across hundreds of tables to grant read only or update perms. You are either a read-only user with the proper default role, or an update user with that role.
I can't (won't) manage it at the table level.
I'll have to upgrade our AGS license for now until HQ matures. Managing who is in a role is a minimum requirement for us. I'm also really disappointed in the space/chunk management interface, especially as it pertains to mirrors.

Yes, default roles is not part of IHQ. I trust you found how to mange permissions on databases and tables while logged in as the IHQ administrator under the DBServer Administration : Privileges option.

Subject: Granting Default Role in InformixHQ
I am playing with the new(ish) InformixHQ to determine if it can take the place of the older AGS management software. I have found one mission critical process for us that I don't see anywhere that InformixHQ can do....grant default database roles.
I can create database privileges, and on that page, it shows default role, but I don't see anywhere to set this value in the website. Am I missing it or does this product not do this (yet?)
