  • 1.  4GL supported on RedHat 8 and RedHat 9 operating system

    Posted Mon May 08, 2023 09:51 PM

Hi everybody, according to the following compatibility table (https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/informix-4gl-system-requirements), Red Hat version 7 is compatible and supported for IBM informix 4GL 7.51.FC3, but does anyone know if this version of 4GL will be released for Linux RedHat 8 or 9 soon?; the client wants to be sure that the change is supported and documented by IBM.

    Thanks in advanced.

A Step Editor for editing the steps individually would also be a good idea!

There are some missing libraries due to version change, but I've installed a working 4GL in RedHat 9. Just created some links from new libraries to old ones.

It's not supported but it works

    Hi Vicente,

Would you please advise what links you have created in RedHat 9? I am in the same boat and would like to have 4GL working in CentOS 9 Stream.

        Thanks in advance,

    Kind regard,

    Adrian

For 4GL, I believe the hold-up was ncurses libraries. You can check which libraries are unsatisfied the traditional way using `ldd`.

We were initially symlinking those libraries, but have since switched to ncurses-compat-libs from epel, which provides sufficient compat wrappers.

I've also got libxcrypt-compat and compat-openssl11 installed, but I think those might have been for something else.
