  • 1.  Informix 12 or 14 on Centos 8

    Hello everyone,

     

    Centos 8 operating system does not appear on the "supported" operating systems list (for Informix 12 or 14) yet.  Will this change soon?

     

    Do you have any production implementations already running this combination?

    I have 14.10.FC3 (and CSDK, HDR, RSS, ER, Connection Managers) running under the latest CentOS 8 (full yum update - regularly).
    I also have 12.10.FC13 (I think :) ) running on CentOS 8

    So, it works, but as you say, it does not appear on the Supported list.

    Hal,

    I have run benchmarks on both Centos 8 and 7 and Informix performs very much better on Centos 7.  I would not use 8 in production yet.

    Thank you Jon and Lester for your replies.

     

    I was not surprised at all to hear there are production instances already (I also went, quite a few times, with the new os version and the same old Informix version that was not officially supported and never had a problem over these many years).

     

    I was surprised by what I heard from Lester and this is indeed very important to know, thank you!   Will stay with Centos 7 for now on this instance.

    What did you find were the main reasons for deciding against using CentOS 8 just yet and was that for IDS 12.10 or 14.10.

    Hello, we ´re using RHEL 8 and 14.10FC3WE - i dont recordnized any problems or slowdowns? Which Version you tested with? Thanks
