We are excited to announce the availability of IBM Db2 AI for z/OS 1.6.  Db2 AI for z/OS (Db2ZAI) helps customers improve the performance and resiliency of Db2 for z/OS by collecting and learning operational behavior unique to their environment.

With Db2ZAI 1.6, we have updated the machine learning processes and have integrated all the necessary runtime libraries into Db2ZAI.  This simplifies the software stack and speeds up new installations, upgrades, and on-going maintenance.

The core capabilities and benefits of Db2ZAI 1.6 remain the same as Db2ZAI 1.5.  We plan to continue to invest in Db2ZAI 1.6 to enhance the existing capabilities and add more use cases.

The primary benefits of Db2ZAI are:

  • Cost reduction through improved SQL access paths and the stabilization of access paths for simple dynamic statements.
  • Automated performance evaluations based on your workloads and tuning recommendations backed by years of expertise.
  • Protection of critical Db2 resources by controlling remote connections and threads through Db2 profiles, while also providing greater insights into the remote applications.

Note that current users of Db2ZAI 1.5 can upgrade to gain the same simplification benefits with Db2ZAI 1.5 APARs PH54584, PH56777, PH56807, and PH56843.  Migration paths from Db2ZAI 1.4 to 1.6 and from Db2ZAI 1.5 to 1.6 are also available.

For more information about Db2ZAI 1.6, review the Db2ZAI 1.6 documentation.

To explore the capabilities of Db2ZAI, try the Db2ZAI zTrial. Within approximately 2 hours of signing up, you will receive an email with the credentials for you to access your own on-demand environment.
