Philipp's proposition is the way to go in Cognos Dashboards.
If you intend publishing that data for Self-Service usage, you might consider doing that calculation inside the data module.

Subject: Default Value in Cognos Dashboard
Hi Krity,
I'm facing the same. You can add a calculation to your data module (or dashboard) that calculates the difference between a database date and current_date (relative date, e.g. in days). To make it more readable, you can map this number to a speakting text (e.g. yesterday, beginning of last week etc.). If you want to give your users both relative dates as well as absolute days you can add those relative dates to the absolute dates by a union operation in an appropriate shared data format (cast). I'm afraid this is the best you can get outside a CA extension. Otherwise please let me know :-)
Best regards,
Philipp

Is there a way to set default value for dashboard filters in Cognos latest versions. I am talking about standalone dashboard capability and not embedded dashboard in a report studio.
For Example, I have a drop down list that has date in it. i want users to see data for the previous day by default whenever they open the dashboard and also have the provision to select dates as per their requirements.
