  • 1.  CogBox - drill trough from dashboard to report not working

    Hi, 

    I have CogBox installed. Has anyone come across a problem with drilling down to a report from dashboard where target report doesn't open, it is stuck on page where cognos "blue ring" just spinning in a loop. 

    I'm using IIS webserver. Bypassing web server using dispatcher address, drill trough works also after uninstalling CogBox extension, drill trough works. CogBox extension somehow breaks drill through function.

    I've been diagnosing a similar issue and I believe my issue stems from having headings on a visual such as '21%-40%' & '41%-60%' as seen below.  When I drilled through on one of these labels a blank white page opened, but a report was not generated and I didn't even get any 'spinning' blue ring.  I have been able to fix this by removing the '%' in the headings.  This wasn't an issue when my dashboard was created earlier this year, but IT did apply the latest Cogbox at the end of September. I just stumbled upon this the other day.  I'm not sure if it's something with the latest version or not as I haven't reached out to @Paul Mendelson at this point.  Perhaps the parameter with the '%' in it is getting messed up in the URL.

    The fix will be in the next version (hopefully later this month). But in the meantime if you can't wait you can paste the following into the drillFix.js under cogbox\js\controllers\Bug_Fixes

    The js fixes the way cognos builds drillthroughs from dashboards. Cognos, by default, passes format:'HTML', which forces ALL drills to run in HTML, even if you set the target report to default to PDF or Excel. My code intercepts that JavaScript and opens a new tab with the prompts embedded in the URL. The problem here is that % is a special character in URLs, and it needed to be encoded. The fix was to just add encodeURI() around the parameters.
