Data Module Outer Join in Report Error

    I am on 11.1.7.

    I have a requirement to perform an outer join on 2 queries in a Report.  The source is a data module that uses a Data Server connection.  A standard inner join on these two queries works just fine however when I change the cardinality to an outer join, I get an error:

    XQE-GEN-0002 An unexpected exception occurred:
    java.lang.NullPointerException

    I checked to make sure there is no aggregation and also casted the id as a number in case it was a data type issue but the error is still there.

    Are outer joins supported against DM sources in Reports?  Has anyone encountered a similar error and found a workaround?

    Hi Todd,
    That is a bug, should not occur. Please log it as an issue.
    Are you able to get a bit more info from this error, e.g. a stack-trace. If so please send it to me. There might be a way to work-around this. Also please indicate the version you are using.
    Under normal circumstances outer joins are supported.
