    Hi All,

I downloaded 2.0.58 local from Fix Central a couple of weeks ago and set it up on my local environment.
According to the docs, it still suggests that 2.0.58 is cloud only: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSD29G_2.0.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.tm1_prism_gs.2.0.0.doc/c_paw_nf_sc58.html

I haven't been able to find any noticeable difference to 2.0.57 other than download size and the "about" saying 2.0.58.

Is it identical to 2.0.57 local or are there some background stability improvements etc?

    Thanks,

    Declan

    Declan:

Haven't tried it myself, but the QueBIT folks who have say they haven't seen a noticeable difference between 2.0.57 and 2.0.58 either.

My impression was that there were a lot of things that needed to be fixed ... :-)

Sorry I can't be more helpful!

    Hi All,

I have had personal experience with this...
The difference between PAW versions 2.0.57 and 2.0.58 is only for Windows platform affected.
v.57 will not be running on Windows at all since there are some faulty parts around Mongo.

So, if you are for Microsoft, you definitely need to choose version 2.0.58.

(The strange is that 2.0.57 is still there to be downloaded.)

    Regards,
    Tamas

    Hi Tamas

I have v 2.0.57 running on my local windows environment (windows server 2016). Maybe I was lucky or perhaps I run a simple setup but it is running 😃.

    Dear Jesper,

    You are really lucky. :-)

The confirmation from IBM support was as per follows:
is this a Windows 2016 server? We had a defect with Mongo on Win2016 that had been fixed with PAW 58.

    with kind regards,
    Tamas

    Declan,

We have not tested later release yet. My understanding was 58 was cloud only, however there are Release notes for 58 and if there is a download for local, then I guess these fixes are in there. https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6192099

Also 59 was just released with more fixes.

Given there major feature enhancements in 57, worth trying 59 in case you get caught up with one of the known defects

Thanks both, I hadn't noticed the release notes but that explains it.
59 is not quite available on Fix Central yet but will get it installed when it is, I try and always play with the latest version but with the impressive release schedules at the moment I hardly get a chance to log in before another is released!

    Thanks,

    Declan

"Impressive release rates". Would be more impressive if they didn't have to for mind

I can confirm that 2.0.58 was mostly fixes plus some additional work to enable the preview and upgrade options to the new UI experience.  These preview and update options are unique to Planning Analytics on IBM Cloud.

2.0.59 does include some enhancements as noted here: https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSD29G_2.0.0/com.ibm.swg.ba.cognos.tm1_nfg.2.0.0.doc/c_paw_nf_sc59.html

A list of defects that were reported by Planning Analytics customers (APARs) resolved in each release can be found here: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/ibm-planning-analytics-20-fix-lists.  Keep in mind that this list does not include defects identified and corrected by our development and QC teams.

IBM Planning Analytics Workspace and Planning Analytics for Excel are continuous release products on both IBM Cloud and Planning Analytics Local.  We generally try to provide an update each month that includes both defect fixes and enhancements.  One of the advantages of the IBM Cloud environment is that these updates are automatically applied (for Workspace).  Our Planning Analytics cloud customers are always on the latest and greatest!  For Planning Analytics Local we make the same monthly updates available.  We realize that not all Planning Analytics Local customers can keep up with this release schedule.  Having a monthly release available provides flexibility for our local customers to update to the most current release when they want.  Many Planning Analytics Local customers only update the to the most current release every three to four months.
