  • 1.  PAW - Cube Views empty before refresh

    Hi Community,

I am facing a problem within Planning Analytics Workspace.
    My Version is 2.0.61.
When I open a book which has for example a start page on Tab1 and cube views on Tab 2 and 3. When I move to the tabs with the cube views, the views are empty. The numbers appear only after a refresh of the tab. Please see attached screenshots:
    Before refresh:

    After refresh:

This is not very user friendly. Does anyone have the same problem or knows a solution for this? The problem occurs only with cube views. All charts are calculated automatically when switching to another tab.

    Thanks and regards
    Tim

    HI Tim,
Noticed this in a Cloud Dev environment after the New Experience update. Happening on 2.0.61 too.
Sometimes what happens too is that the dimensions on Rows and Columns don't show or show 1 dimension where there should be multiple dimensions next to each other.
If you refresh a few times, it seems to sort itself out.

Will definitely create issues for users.

I cannot replicate this so have not logged a defect.

What I have noticed is that if you go into Edit mode then Refresh, you can see the dirty indicator next to the book name to indicate that something changed.
Obviously cannot do this on all books and tabs after every update so will keep looking to see if there is a pattern and possible steps to replicate.

    Hi George,

I noticed this bug also after the New Experience update. I work in an on premises environment.

I can easily recreate this issue by creating a new book, leaving Tab 1 empty and adding a new Cube View Exploration on tab 2. Then Save the book and reopen. After reopening go into edit mode and go to Tab2. The view will be empty. If you are not in edit mode, the view will be calculated.
So it seems to be a bug only for the edit mode?

    Best Regards
    Tim

    Hi Tim,

Will use your steps to see if I can replicate on my side and test the Edit vs View mode theory too.  Will feedback.

I agree, I've seen this issue frequently since upgrading to PAW61, haven't been able to identify the specific steps that cause it, but have seen it many times.

    Hi Tim

I am experiencing the same thing both on cloud and on prep. I have not be able to find a pattern or reproducable steps. My initial thought was that it might have something to do with timing out but I am not sure that is correct since the refresh (one or more times) resolves this annoying problem.

I do not have a workaround and hope this will be fixed as it cannot be extended behaviour. Have not seen this in the classic PAW.
