Issue in running Cognos reports

  • 1.  Issue in running Cognos reports

    ​I have been experiencing some issues regarding creating and running cognos reports in my pc. My cognos admin in our firm suggested to add cognos url and my company's url in the trusted site , turned off the pop up filters and even updated my java to version 8 and update 221. I was also advised to use internet explorer in running cognos reports. Has anyone encountered a similar situation ? Would appreciate all your valuable feedback in resolving this issue.

    The issue was that there was no error message that poped out. I wasn't able to run any reports using excel nor the html feature. I talked about this issue with my Cognos admin and he suggested that I had all the necessary rights and did all the basic steps to run a report and was saying mine might be related to the system that I'm using cause I'm able to run the report in a different system.

    What do you mean by running on a different system?
    Reports are executed on the Server not your laptop.
    I am still unclear how to determined that the report did not run.
    What version of Cognos is this?

    I was able to run the report using Google chrome. I resolved the issue, it was because I was trying to open Cognos through our company website using a single sign-on. It should've worked but was able to figure out that it was more related to a weak back-end scripting issue rather than a Cognos issue.I'm able to browse and run Cognos by typing in the URL in a different tab in chrome.     We recommend Chrome when accessing Cognos Analytics via browser. What error message are you receiving?

    Yes you're right , running Cognos Analytics using chrome in a different tab helped me resolve the issue. Thanks for the suggestion !

    If you are using internet explorer, some times the settings in IE can restrict you. Please add the Cognos URL to the trusted sites and change the compatibility settings. Try Chrome, if you are using Cognos Analytics.

    It depends.

    Chrome is best for running the reports
    Choose firefox when you use the Event studio.
    Cognos Framework manager always uses the IE Browser. I can't change IE to Google or Firefox.
    I always facing challenges when copying the query either in Chrome or Firefox.
