The company’s story began with two hard-working Egyptian brothers, Mohamed and Mahmoud El-Nawawy. El-Nawawy brothers established El-Nawawy for Oil & Seeds company in 1971. The company first started as a flax seed crush mill to produce linseed oil and other linseed products.

With time, El-Nawawy brothers established their name in the linseed market. They were known for their honesty and integrity which was the pillar of their success.
Later, El-Nawawy brothers began to work with the flax fibers. They started with the processing and trading of locally-grown raw flax fibers. With time, the business focus began shifting towards spinning flax fibers into yarn and twine. It was a natural transition given the company’s experience with flax products.
As the business continued to grow, they started to work with other natural fibers such as cotton, jute and hemp.
Today, El-Nawawy company has firmly established itself as a leader in both the Egyptian and European markets with a diverse portfolio that spans a wide range of yarn & twine products.
Lately, we started polypropylene yarn (Raffia) and tape activity in our sister company (Oliatra for industry) to meet the increasing market demand on the polypropylene yarn products.
With the vision for the future and the ambitions of the younger generation, El-Nawawy brothers transferred the executive management to their sons, Mohamed Jr. and Ahmed, respectively.
