Getting Started With IBM Netcool Operations Insight and IBM Agile Service Manager on IBM Cloud Private

In a Private Cloud environment, distinct features within Netcool Operations Insight products and components, such the ObjectServer, Web GUI, and Log Analysis, run within containers. Communication between these containers is managed and orchestrated using IBM Cloud Private running on a Kubernetes cluster.

This guide describes the installation of Netcool Operations Insight (NOI) v1.5 and Agile Service Manager on IBM Cloud Private (ICP) v3.1.0. This document is intended to be a complete, end-to-end walk-through of all the tasks required to install and configure the following components:

  • Docker Community Edition (CE)
  • IBM Cloud Private (ICP) v3.1.0
  • GlusterFS
  • Netcool Operations Insight (NOI) v1.5
  • Agile Service Manager (ASM) v1.1.3

This guide also shows you how to prepare your ICP hosts before the installation, and demonstrates all required post-installation tasks.

Use these plain-text files as configuration examples. Example_hosts is a sample cluster/hosts file. Example_config.yaml is a sample ICP configuration file. create_asm_directories.sh is a script that will create the expected directories on your worker nodes. create-local.yaml contains a configuration that creates a local-storage storage class. asm-pv-config-example.yaml contains a configuration that creates the persistent volumes required for ASM. COMMANDS_PLAIN_TEXT contains all of the commands in the lab guide, without any formatting. NOTE: These files use the UNIX end-of-line character, so open these in a compatible text editor to preserve the carriage returns.
