  • 1.  SV1 Cluster upgrade to 8.5.2.x

    Posted Tue April 25, 2023 10:31 AM

We currently have a SV2 production cluster (8.5.0.x) and a SV1 test cluster (8.5.0.x) on which we test new firmware levels.
Now we want to test MFA with DUO which is in firmware level 8.5.2.
Is there a possibility to upgrade the test SV1 cluster to 8.5.2 anyway?

    Thanks!

    Hi T Masteen,

unfortunately this won't work this way, as V8.5.0 is the terminal release for SV1.

    Hello Christian,
I know it's a terminal release for SV1, but this week I saw an IBM presentation from Hursley where a 2145-SV1 is running 8.5.3.0. So I thought there is a way to bypass the restriction.

    Hi,

It is not possible to run SV1 on anything past 8.5.0.  Development can do wacky things and do so when necessary to develop features with non production signatures/test harnesses, but this requires access that does not leave the development floor for obvious reasons.

    I hope that helps

    Hi,

Apologies for high jacking this thread, but I do have a quick continuation question on the subject of SV1 code levels. We currently have a 6 node cluster, where 2 of the IO groups are SV1, and 1 IO group are SV2's. Can you confirm with a mix of the current hardware, we can only go to 8.5.0.x code levels and no further? And if we do want to make use of 8.6 code we would need to replace all our SV1 nodes with SV2 or SV3 ones first?

    Thanks, Andy

    Hello!

SV1 cannot upgrade beyond 8.5.0.x which is a Long term support release.  In order for your cluster to upgrade you will need to upgrade the SV1 nodes to SA2 or SV3.

Please reference the Hardware compatibility matrix here for SVC info like this : https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/706907
