  • 1.  View SFP levels on SV1 cluster

    Posted Fri September 12, 2025 07:10 AM

    Hi,

    On flash system command line you can use lsportstats -node x to view SFP levels.

    <port id="3"
    type="FC"
    type_id="3"
    wwpn="0x500507681013a3a6"
    fc_wwpn="0x500507681013a3a6"
    fcoe_wwpn=""
    sas_wwn=""
    iqn=""
    hbt="4683124250821688" hbr="1225626293709968" het="0" her="163348821277"
    cbt="0" cbr="0" cet="0" cer="0"
    lnbt="0" lnbr="0" lnet="0" lner="0"
    rmbt="0" rmbr="0" rmet="0" rmer="0"
    dtdt="44863432984" dtdc="2329093685" dtdm="303117585153"
    dtdt2="44863432984" dtdc2="2329093685"
    lf="3" lsy="3" lsi="0" pspe="0"
    itw="0" icrc="0" bbcz="0"
    tmp="47" tmpht="75"
    txpwr="848" txpwrlt="48"
    rxpwr="769" rxpwrlt="63"
    hsr="187" hsw="92" har="0" haw="0"

    I need to get the same info from some 2145 SV1 nodes, does it exist for SVC? because nothing i have tried works. Code level is 8.3.0.3.

    Any help gratefully received thanks.

    From memory, I think this functionality was added in 8.4, which would be why you don't see it on 8.3.0.

    Fyi, 8.3 has been out of support for coming up to a couple of years now:

    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/support-statement-ibm-storage-virtualize-family-products-and-related-software

    If you still have a support contact for the system, I'd encourage you to review the upgrade references:

    https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/5692850

    The SV1 nodes are supported up to 8.5.0, which has an end of service date of December 2026.

    Hi Chris, Thanks for the quick reply, we are in the process of getting data off the SV1 units over to a bunch of FS7300.

    At least i know im not going crazy now, Thanks Stuart

    Hi Stuart,

    If these SV1 ports are connected to a SAN switch, you can check the Tx/Rx signal rates from the SAN switch.

    Hi Nezih, yep we have checked the switch SFP Tx/Rx levels and they are well in tolerance, there's about 10 lpars using this physical adapter port via vios but one lpar is throwing out path errors in SST.

    nsdevlog also shows nothing going out/in on the fabric and the port stats are all zero for errors.

    Because only one lpar is having a path issue and the other 9 are ok we will ask the platform team to remove and add the virtual adapter again.

    If recreating the virtual adapter makes no difference we will change the SFP switch side first to rule it out, then storage if no difference.

    Its all a bit strange, if the port was having issues i would expect all 10 lpars to have errors in SST.

    Cheers
